Wrightson emerged as the 1960s ended with a lush and expressive illustration style strongly influenced by EC Comics of the 1950s.
During his early years he had an initial short period at Marvel. He plotted and drew “Gargoyle Every Night” published in Chamber of Darkness, the issue he also provided this cover for. He left Marvel quickly, staying with DC where he worked for editor Joe Orlando, himself a veteran of EC Comics.
Here’s a new colour version of the cover by me with re-created trade dress.
