Crypt of Shadows No. 18 Cover by Wilson & Colletta
It was in the early 1970s that Marvel’s overall sales overtook DC’s and they’ve remained the largest selling American comic book company since.
Part of their sales tactics involved a robust reprint program to increase their advantage. By releasing more product they were able to squeeze out valuable space on newsstands that DC, Atlas, Charlton and others needed to compete.
Crypt of Shadows was a typical reprint title. This one had a particularly fantastic cover illustration by Ron Wilson & Vince Colletta.
