Behind this great cover by Neal Adams and Dick Giordano were two solid stories written by Frank Robbins. Batman was drawn by Bob Brown and inked by Giordano, while Batgirl had Don Heck doing full art.
While this era is largely defined by Denny O’Neil and Neal Adams’ contributions to Batman, among others Robbins, Brown, Irv Novick and Giordano at the peak of his abilities also did their part to transition Batman into a modern detective character. Stories from this era are spottily collected outside of Adams-drawn issues. I highly recommend them for a humanistic approach and a Batman not portrayed as a demi-god.
