eBook: Perry Rhodan No. 1 Enterprise Stardust by Karl-Herbert Scheer

With such pervasive science-fiction series like Star Trek and Star Wars here in North America, it can be easy to overlook what’s going on in the rest of the world.

Beginning in 1961 and still going strong today, the adventures of Perry Rhodan began in Germany as a weekly magazine with a complete novella in each issue. Its universe and pantheon of characters have grown steadily over the decades, complete with all the tie-ins of merchandise one expects from such a prominent piece of popular culture.

Rhodan was championed by Forrest J and Wendayne Ackerman and came to America. The first 126 stories were translated into English and published by Ace Books from 1969–78. Later efforts by others were much briefer.

For the curious, I’ve created an ebook of Rhodan’s first story Enterprise Stardust, originally published as Unternehmen Stardust. If you enjoy the story, tell the publishers that you’d like to see new English-language editions in ebooks. You can also visit the official website.

The cover art is by renowned German SF illustrator Johnny Bruck. There are two editions, one using his original cover from 1961, and a later version from 1986. Otherwise, both editions are the same and are presented in ePUB (iOS, iPadOS, MacOS, Windows, etc.) and AZW3 and KFX (Kindle) formats.
