FOOM was the successor to the MMMS and was the fan service of the MCG. Translated for the less geeky: Friends of Ol’ Marvel was the successor to the Merry Marvel Marching Society and was the fan service of the Marvel Comics Group.
Membership cards, posters, you name it, it was exclusive marketing materials fans could order from the pages of Marvel’s comics. For example, in the mid 70s FOOM magazine was not available on newsstands. With interviews, insider news, exclusive art and other cool stuff, it was fun while it lasted.
But, it was a bit of a low-budget affair, with black & white interiors and limited cover colour, as in this black & cyan combo on a nice drawing of Conan and Red Sonja by Buscema and Palmer.
Here’s some new colour.
