Jonah Hex No. 34 Cover by Luis Dominguez
The old west was a rough and tumble kind of place, but one Santa killing another? Man, that’s cold.
A solid cover illustration by Luis Dominguez, an Argentinian artist who had a good run of DC covers in the 1970s, for Jonah Hex No. 34 cover dated March 1980.
Jonah Hex was a pretty unique Western character. There was a dark sense of humour about him that complemented the brutal scars on his face. His book lasted a number of years when most other Western books had faded into memory. After it was cancelled there was a second series – Hex – that put him in a post-apocalyptic future. Interesting, but the concept didn’t last.
