Was there anything bigger and better in North American comics in the 1970s than tabloid/treasury comics? Big presentation. Longer page counts. The best stories reprinted or new epic stories.
A great example are the multiple Captain Marvel issues published under the Shazam! title by DC. While original artist CC Beck left DC’s revival after only a few issues of the regular-sized comic, his vintage work was fantastic in the reprints chosen, and a top artist like Bob Oksner did a solid job mimicking Beck’s style on the cover.
And of course I couldn’t ignore the Captain’s original Fawcett logo. New colour and packaging by me.
