One of my favourite Dick Giordano Charlton covers is this issue from 1958. The machinery is reminiscent of Wally Wood’s, and the astronaut figure is classic Giordano. I sometimes think the alien is saying, “I will name him George, and I will hug him, and pet him…”
As published.
A reprint near the end of Charlton Comics in 1984.
A scan of the original art was found on Heritage Auctions. Unfortunately, someone whited out the top of the art sloppily, requiring some production work to restore it.
Cleaned-up art.
Taking a high-res scan of the Ghost Manor cover, I was able to drop out the colour and create a patch of the lineart.
With the patch pasted in, the remaining missing pieces of art were re-created.
Trade dress re-created.
Original colour re-created.
New colour.
