Throughout the 1960s and 70s, DC Comics leveraged their library of existing stories effectively with specials, annuals and series of books built around reprinted material.
Super DC Giant was just such a book and it began in 1970, running for 15 issues. The covers were most often new art, and this one by Neal Adams is in the same vein as many of his horror covers for DC with kids in peril. Inside, framing art by Jack Sparling linked the reprinted stories.
If you visit this site regularly, you know you’re about to see a new colour version of the cover. I want to note this time out that I love the original colour version, likely done by Jack Adler. So this new version is strictly an alternate take, and if you’re new here know that is how I approach most of these. I’m not trying to outdo the originals, but celebrate the work and give a different spin to books we know very well already.
