X-Men No. 107 by Cockrum & McLeod
The early issues of the new X-Men by writer Chris Claremont and penciller Dave Cockrum brought something fresh to super-hero teams. With the steady pulse in Claremont’s writing providing a driving rhythm, Cockrum delivered unique character conception and strong visual dynamics that hit like the best percussion.
The splash page to No. 107 has been referred to as the best depiction of the new X-Men ever put to paper. I don’t have enough X-knowledge to know if that’s true. I just thought it was a very dynamic image.
The re-creation below was pencilled by Cockrum in 2001 and inked in 2002 by Bob McLeod. Following that we have an homage by Ed Benes.
New colour and packaging by me.
