Legion of Super-Heroes No. 1 Cover by Nick Cardy
During the 20¢ era at DC, Nick Cardy was the go-to man for covers, producing dozens of well-rendered images across multiple genres.
This one has the hallmarks of being designed by Carmine Infantino. The ribbon of buildings small on the horizon, the three Legionnaires in rhythm in the background, the whole composition being tipped on an angle. I personally love the touch of Ultra Boy’s legs sticking out of the hole Superboy pounded him into.
This run of the Legion was all reprints and only lasted three issues, but at least we got some new covers to go with them.
